As a Construction Project Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our In Real Life Experience (IRLX) program, improving both customer and crew experiences across our 1,600+ restaurants. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of reinvestment construction projects, from planning and design to execution and completion, with a strong emphasis on people management and franchisee relationships.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversee multiple construction projects, acting as a trusted advisor (approx. 70% construction counsellor, 30% technical focus)
- Manage the full lifecycle of IRLX reinvestment projects in existing restaurants
- Engage and coordinate with franchisees, crew, designers, contractors, and corporate teams (IT, Finance, QS, Principle Designers)
- Supervise all aspects of detailed design and challenge project costs to ensure best value
- Monitor project programmes, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with regulations and McDonald's standards
- Obtain financial approvals, report on project expenditure, and manage expectations with franchisees
- Conduct site inspections and support the engagement of Principle Designers for CDM & BSA compliance
- Champion clear, open, and consistent communication across all stakeholders
Qualifications
- At least 1 year’s experience in a similar construction project management or commercial/retail fitout role
- Proven ability to lead and deliver high‑quality construction projects on time and to budget
- Strong financial acumen and confidence in challenging project costs for best value
- Excellent relationship‑building and influencing skills, especially in franchisee‑facing roles
- Positive mindset, willingness to learn, and openness to acquiring new skills
- Respectful, collaborative approach treating others with consideration and working well within a team
- Active listening skills and the ability to consider different perspectives
- Integrity, honest, genuine, and authentic in all interactions
- Organised, analytical, and proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint; project management software desirable)
- Full clean driving licence (travel required)
