Overview
Construction Estimator – Wigan. Amspec Limited has grown over 23 years into a capable Design & Build enterprise operating in four key sectors: Commercial & Industrial, Retail & Leisure, Public Sector, and Specialist & Bespoke (design and manufacture of fitted and loose joinery products). We have a fantastic opportunity to add to our busy Commercial Team by recruiting an Experienced or Assistant Estimator. The role is suitable for candidates with Construction/Interiors sector experience on projects of varying values. A qualification in Construction & The Built Environment or a related construction degree is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Produce high quality, accurate estimates presented in a legible, analytical and logical format.
- Process tenders, review tenders within the team prior to submission, identify risks, and obtain prices from our pool of sub-contractors.
- Prepare accurate take-offs and utilise Estimating software (knowledge of Evaluate or similar is beneficial; full training will be provided).
- Manage all aspects of Bid Preparation, prepare enquiries to Sub-Contractors, perform cost comparisons and develop bid strategies with a deep understanding of our sector.
- Organise and attend site visits with Clients and Sub-contractors; attend Client progress meetings to stay informed of commercial issues.
- Liaise with clients and work on multiple tenders in a busy environment; adapt and learn our software (Eque2 / Evaluate) and MS Project (proficient is advantageous).
- Undertake client tender presentations and have technical knowledge of the construction methods used in tenders.
- Attend sites to carry out surveys; a full UK driving licence is essential.
- Demonstrate excellent computer literacy (Word, Excel) and practical problem-solving abilities.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Some Construction/Interiors sector experience; experience on projects of varying values.
- Qualification in Construction & The Built Environment or a related construction degree (or working towards one).
- Familiarity with estimating software; knowledge of Evaluate or similar is beneficial (training provided).
- Ability to work on multiple tenders, strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence; willingness to visit sites for surveys.
- Excellent computer literacy (MS Word, Excel) and a practical, common-sense approach to information gathering and problem solving.
