Job description
Compliance Technologist

Food Industry

£35k

If you’re the kind of person who spots the tiny details others miss and look beyond the obvious to piece the puzzle together, this could be the ideal role for you.

We’re looking for someone who loves the technical side of the food industry: approving suppliers, understanding risks, keeping systems tight, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs exactly as it should.

This is a role for someone who cares about doing things properly. Someone who knows how complex supply chains really work in the food industry. Someone who wants to protect product integrity and support a business that relies on robust compliance.

You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative team based in Cheshire, where technical plays a key part in keeping standards high and ensuring commercial teams stay supported.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting supplier, product and service provider approvals, making sure documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Playing an active part in supply chain risk assessment and helping maintain strong technical standards.
  • Carrying out traceability checks, supporting mock recalls, and assisting with customer complaints and non-conformances.
  • Contributing to audits, supplier reviews, and technical system upkeep including maintaining the Quality Management System.
  • Keeping teams informed of key technical updates, legislation changes, and emerging risks.
  • Helping interpret upcoming UK/EU food safety and labelling regulations so the business stays ahead.
  • Building strong relationships across the supply base.
  • Working with commercial teams to review and approve new suppliers and products, making sure documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Supporting logistics by assessing and approving new transport and service partners.
  • Conducting supplier visits and audits where required based on risk.
  • Understanding import/export processes and supporting compliance from a legislative point of view.
What background do we need for this role
  • A food-related degree or experience in technical or compliance roles within the food industry.
  • A background in supplier approval and raw material risk management.
  • Confident understanding of traceability, root cause analysis, and non-conformance handling.
  • Ideally working knowledge of import/export processes.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards (BRCGS experience is a big advantage).
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Excel and Teams; database experience is a bonus.
  • HACCP Level 3 (minimum).
  • A self-motivated mindset, great communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail.

If you enjoy technical problem-solving, building strong supplier relationships, and keeping standards high in a fast-moving food environment, this is a role where your eye for detail and integrity will really shine.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
