Community Gardener Volunteer

Basis: Attending the community garden at least once a month

Section: Volunteer support

Reporting to: Outreach and Partnerships Coordinator

Location: Greener and Cleaner Community Garden, Southlands Road Allotments, Baths Rd, Bromley.

Responsible for: Maintenance of our community garden.

DBS Check: Some volunteer duties may require a DBS check

About the role

The Hub from Greener and Cleaner is looking for volunteer Community Gardeners to help maintain our community allotment. We are especially interested in anyone with skills in:

  • General gardening (including physical work like digging, lifting, carrying things).
  • Growing and nurturing plants, trees, and flowers.

What will you be doing?

We’ve started a community garden to help others learn and practice skills for biodiversity, growing their own produce, and creating a space for connection. Your role is central to the upkeep of this garden.

Who are we looking for?

Someone passionate about the outdoors with skills in:

  • General gardening (including physical work like digging, lifting, carrying things).
  • Growing and nurturing plants, trees, and flowers.
  • Comfortable working in a customer-facing role within a diverse community.

We’re a friendly team of mostly part-time volunteers who rely on and support each other. We warmly welcome new members.

Keen to learn and share knowledge about eco-friendly gardening and growing fruits and vegetables.

You need to be over 18.

You’ll be part of our pilot project, which aims to be replicated across the UK, providing a blueprint for community engagement and environmental impact. Your involvement promotes learning and encourages small, meaningful actions to combat climate change.
