Job description

Community Equipment Technicians play an important role in the timely discharge of patients from secondary care and the re-enablement of patients in the community who have long-term conditions. The post holder will be required to prioritise their workload according to delivery schedules, load, transport, deliver and set up equipment. Liaise and communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Prioritise workload to meet delivery schedules and facilitate hospital discharge for patients/service usersUndertake a risk assessment of the patient's/service user's environment for the safe delivery and installation of equipmentTo deliver, assemble and collect equipment from people's home addresses.To set up and demonstrate the safe use of manual and electrical equipment to patients, service users and carersSupport and deal sensitively with recently bereaved families and carers when collecting equipmentAdhere to delivery schedulesTo take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others in the working environment, and comply with instructions on safe moving and handling practices.

To attend health and safety and equipment awareness training to maintain up-to-date skills and knowledgeReport any adverse incidents using the events reporting procedure.

The post holder will be required to undertake work in an efficient, effective and economic manner, both as an individual or as part of a team, to provide continuously improving service to our service users.
