Care Worker and Home Care Worker Responsibilities
- Provide personal care (e.g., washing, bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Assist with medication administration and monitoring, as per care plans
- Support with mobility, including safe use of mobility aids, hoists, or wheelchairs
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments, day centres, or community activities
- Support with meal preparation, nutrition, and hydration
- Carry out light domestic duties (e.g., cleaning, laundry, shopping)
- Help manage daily routines and appointments
- Encourage and assist with budgeting, cooking, or household planning in supported living settings
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance
- Promote independent living skills and confidence building
- Engage individuals in hobbies, interests, and social activities
- Monitor and report any changes in mental or physical health to supervisors
- Accurately record care delivery using digital systems or paper records
- Adhere to safeguarding, health & safety, and infection control procedures
- Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings
- Uphold confidentiality and data protection at all times.
- Be knowledgeable about Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policies and Procedures and report any untoward events in accordance with Nwando Care and Local Authority requirements.
- Ensure that clinical equipment is maintained in a safe, clean, and fully functional state. Report any equipment failures or damage to the relevant manager/team leader.
- Be responsible for the care and protection of service users’ property.
- Undertake training appropriate to your role and ensure learning is shared and transferred into practice.
