Location: The Old Library, Leeming Street, Mansfield, NG18 1NG

Salary: £30 per hour

Contract: Freelance

Hours: 16 hours a week (2 days - Thursday availability)

Reporting to: Artistic Director / Executive Producer

About Unanima Theatre

Unanima is an arts development organisation that provides a variety of creative, cultural and campaign opportunities for learning disabled and autistic people. Unanima creates bold, socially-driven work with learning disabled and autistic artists at its heart. We challenge perceptions, foster creativity, and centre unheard voices. Our work takes place in theatres, communities, care settings, and schools — telling stories that need to be told.

Role Summary

We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and dynamic people-centered Community & Engagement Producer to spark connections and bring communities into the heart of our work.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead bold engagement strategies, co‑create with participants, and build lasting partnerships that ensure Unanima’s projects are deeply rooted in lived experience and equity.

You’ll develop engagement strategies, co‑create with participants, and produce outreach activity that connects our creative work to the people who inspire it.

Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
  • Build and nurture relationships with local communities, participants, partner organisations, and stakeholders.
  • Design and facilitate social events, and projects that respond to the needs and interests of learning disabled and/or autistic communities and are in line with the mission and vision of Unanima.
  • Design and facilitate performance opportunities for the community strands of work throughout the year
  • Act as a key point of contact for participants, families, carers, and community groups.
Project Producing
  • Development of community strands of work.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and logistics for community-facing projects.
  • Coordinate freelance artists, facilitators, and access support workers where needed.
Co‑Creation & Participation
  • Facilitate co‑creative processes, ensuring accessible, inclusive, and safe spaces for participants.
  • Collaborate closely with Unanima’s creative team to ensure community voices are embedded in the creative process.
Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Collect feedback and data to evaluate impact and inform future practice.
  • Contribute to funding applications and reports, providing insight and evidence from engagement work.
Advocacy & Access
  • Champion accessibility, inclusive practice, and Unanima’s values in all areas of the role.
  • Represent the company in community, sector, and stakeholder meetings or events.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Experience in community engagement, participatory arts, or inclusive practice.
  • Experience in empowering marginalised groups.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A collaborative approach with a commitment to co‑creation and equality.
  • Work well within a team and also an independent self‑motivated worker.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive access practices.
  • Experience in working with learning disabled and/or autistic people.
  • Understanding of the Mansfield area, including key local networks and demographics.
  • Experience in evaluation, reporting, or funding applications.
  • Background in theatre, social arts, or education.
  • Hold a drivers licence.
