Role Purpose:

Macmillan Cancer Support is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to develop and deliver impactful communications for internal and external audiences. Whether your background is in media agency work, social media, press activity, corporate communications, or experience in the corporate, public, or charity sectors, this is your opportunity to apply your creativity and strategic thinking to a cause that makes a difference. You will work across teams to craft compelling content, manage key stakeholders, and ensure Macmillan's voice remains clear, consistent, and trusted across multiple channels.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement insight-driven communication plans that engage and inform key audiences.
  2. Create and deliver content across owned and earned channels, ensuring clarity and impact.
  3. Build strong relationships with media, stakeholders, and internal teams to amplify Macmillan's mission.
  4. Manage reputational issues, providing expert advice and crisis response support.
  5. Lead projects, work in matrix teams, and support strategic communication planning.
  6. Evaluate and refine communication approaches to maximize reach and engagement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong multi-disciplinary communication experience in a complex organization, in external (press and/or social media) or corporate communications.
  • Proven track record in strategic communication planning and execution.
  • Experience handling reputational issues and crisis communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
