Qualifications

  • Must have an Electrical engineering background with relevant experience in commercial installations.
  • Strong understanding of system commissioning and electrical safety standards.
  • Familiarity with heating systems, controls, and power management.

Responsibilities

  • Complete final wiring and setup of heat pump systems according to safety standards.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure system integrity.
  • Assist in commissioning heat pump systems to meet performance criteria.
  • Collaborate with installation and electrical teams for streamlined operations.
  • Resolve technical issues during commissioning for optimal system performance.
  • Record commissioning activities appropriately using SimPRO.
  • Engage in formal training and support team members' development.

The role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. You\'ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of our low-carbon heat pump systems. Your work will include:

  • Completing the final wiring and setup of heat pump systems, including circulation pumps and associated plant, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Conducting rigorous quality control checks and reviewing documentation to guarantee system integrity and compliance.
  • Assisting in the commissioning process for heat pumps and systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet intended performance criteria.
  • Collaborating closely with installation teams, electricians, and other stakeholders to coordinate and streamline commissioning.
  • Addressing and resolving technical issues that arise during commissioning, implementing solutions to optimise system performance.
  • Recording all installation / commissioning activities in appropriate certification forms and in SimPRO (our scheduling and QAQC system).
  • Committing to on-the-job and formal training, sharing knowledge with the wider Rendesco team.
  • Supporting the development of future members of the Installations team as you grow in your career.
About you

An Electrical engineer or similar with demonstrable professional electrical experience, primarily in commercial installations.

Strong technical understanding of electrical wiring, safety standards, BS7671 regulations, and basic refrigeration principles.

Familiarity with commissioning complex systems, including heating plant, controls, and both three-phase and single-phase power.

Methodical, detail-oriented, and capable of working autonomously or as part of a team.

Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Qualifications and skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in building services or HVAC sector.
  • Completion of the 18th Edition update to wiring regulations (beneficial but not required).
  • Proficiency in testing to BS2391 and knowledge of various heating systems and plant.
