Associate / Senior Associate – Strategic Contracts

The Team

The Commercial team is structured into five workstreams: Strategic Contracts, Technology, Intellectual Property, Data Privacy, and Retail Finance. This position sits within the Strategic Contracts team, which advises on a wide range of matters from day-to-day contracts to large-scale outsourcings and multinational projects. The team has particular expertise in global facilities and property management outsourcings and regularly advises on major supply chain contracts, especially in the aerospace and automotive sectors.

Role and Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Advise on high-value, long-term strategic arrangements as well as day-to-day commercial contracts.
  • Work with private and public sector clients across industries such as transport, utilities, and industrial engineering at local, national, and international levels.
  • Provide commercial support for transactions handled by corporate and real estate teams.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across offices and practice groups.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including drafting client briefings and articles.
Skills and Experience Required
  • 2-6 years PQE with a solid foundation in contract law.
  • Strong technical and drafting skills, with detailed knowledge of different types of contracts.
  • Understanding of key legal, commercial, and operational issues impacting clients and their contracts.
  • Awareness of specialist areas such as TUPE, data protection, and competition law.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple transactions under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an interest in business development.

For Senior Associate level, you should also:

  • Demonstrate experience in supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Proactively participate in business development and client networking activities.
