Job description
The Role: CNC Setter

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter to join a well‑established manufacturing business based in the Huntingdon area. This is a hands‑on opportunity for a CNC Setter who enjoys working in a tooling‑focused environment, supporting the manufacture, modification, and maintenance of precision tooling used in high‑volume manufacturing.

This permanent position would suit a CNC Setter with a practical, methodical approach and a strong focus on quality and machine performance. Working closely with Toolmakers and Engineers, the CNC Setter will play a key role in ensuring tooling is produced efficiently, safely, and to specification within a modern manufacturing facility.

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Type: Permanent, full‑time

Main Responsibilities
  • Set and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis)
  • Assist with the manufacture and modification of production tooling and tooling accessories
  • Prepare and set aluminium blanks prior to machining
  • Select, load, and run appropriate CNC programs
  • Monitor machining operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency
  • Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks
  • Report machine faults or issues in a timely manner
  • Support tooling assembly, preparation, and repair work as required
  • Work collaboratively with Toolmakers, CNC Operators, and Engineering teams
Skills/Experience
  • Previous experience as a CNC Setter or within a CNC machining environment
  • Practical understanding of CNC milling processes
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and machining instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Hands‑on, problem‑solving approach
  • Experience working with aluminium components (desirable)
  • Time‑served apprenticeship or CNC‑related qualification (advantageous but not essential)
