Job description

Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is the provision of same day care for patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. The SDEC team provides rapid assessment of medical patients. We aim to triage referrals, provide early diagnostics and implement treatment plans for patients referred from local GP practices, specialist nurses and the Emergency Department. We liaise with district nurses, social services and other support agencies where necessary.

SDEC aims to assess and treat medical conditions. These conditions include, but are not limited to chest pain and cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, suspected or proven Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) - (pulmonary embolism (PE) and Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and acute headaches.

The unit is fast paced and requires a motivated, dynamic individual who is able to work independently and well within a team., Providing and maintaining excellent patient care, support and safety.

  • Supporting the MDT in rapid patient assessment, treatment and discharge.
  • Supporting clerical staff.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
