A healthcare organization in Basingstoke is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to support patients with rare cancers through flexible psychological assessments and interventions, both virtually and in-person. Ideal candidates will have experience in health psychology or be newly qualified. This structured role offers opportunities for personal development within a reputable team. The position is professionally managed and supervised by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This role is focused on delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.
The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute is an internationally renowned tertiary service for patients with a rare form of cancer. Patients are admitted from around the country and usually remain in hospital for at least two weeks, so the psychological input is a mix of virtual and in‑person support.
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to support patients during this highly emotive time. This includes conducting virtual pre‑admission assessments, pre‑surgery psychological support, face‑to‑face interventions in hospital, and post‑discharge support offered virtually.
The psychology service is one of a kind in the country and, although established for over eight years, it is still growing. We have a well‑resourced research team, and an interest in research and evaluation will be a real benefit.
This is a structured role with plenty of scope to develop and make it your own. It is an 8a post, but we would consider a newly qualified applicant with experience in health psychology on a preceptorship programme.
Work hours are flexible; to fit the team structure we are looking for availability on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The post is professionally managed and supervised by Consultant Clinical Psychologist Nancy Vanderpuye. Please feel free to contact her for an informal chat: Nancy.vanderpuye@hhft.nhs.uk.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei – a rare form of abdominal cancer – and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.
The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors.
