Job Summary

We are excited to recruit a Clinical Office Coordinator to join our Ophthalmology team. This is a full‑time role.

The successful applicant will deliver high‑quality customer service, exhibit excellent communication skills and understand delivery of healthcare services. You will demonstrate commitment to care quality, performance delivery, teamwork, problem‑solving and independent work. Knowledge of the 18‑week patient pathway is preferable but training will be provided. Experience with Cerner, Luna, CRIS and Dictate‑IT is desirable, though not essential.

Main Duties
  • Complete dictated letters within agreed timescales.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all patient and agency enquiries via email, telephone and postal communication.
  • Escalate concerns over longer waits to the Team Leader.
  • Highlight potential breaches or delays in the patient pathway to the Team Leader, Patient Pathway Team or Manager following the Trust’s escalation policy.
  • Dispose of outstanding uncashed clinic outcomes on Cerner.
  • Assist with changes to clinic templates as directed by the Team Leader/Service Manager.
  • Attend regular team meetings arranged by the Team Leader/Line Manager.
  • Maintain confidential, high‑quality relationships with patients, GPs and staff.
Person Specification
  • Essential – Previous administration experience.
  • Essential – Experience working in a busy office and dealing with conflicting demands.
  • Essential – Experience in a front‑line position with the general public.
  • Desirable – NHS experience.
  • Desirable – Knowledge of NHS systems and procedures.
