A healthcare organization in Bournemouth is seeking an Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar for a 9-month fixed term role. The position involves providing patient care through elective clinics and acute services, contributing to governance, and participating in department meetings. Candidates should have at least 6 months of registrar experience in the UK and possess MRCOG Part 1. The role offers a collaborative team environment with a 1:8 on-call commitment.
A 9 month fixed term Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar role based at University Hospital Dorset, working across the Poole and Bournemouth sites. There may be an opportunity to extend to 12 months.
The post involves providing in‑ and out‑of‑hours cover to the patient population. Duties include elective gynaecology clinics and theatres, as well as acute and elective obstetrics. Where possible specialist interests may be accessible. The successful applicant will contribute to the Department’s governance programme, including participation in department meetings, safety initiatives and morbidity and mortality meetings. The post holder will be expected to engage with Appraisal as part of GMC Revalidation.
The post is part of a team comprising 24 consultants, 16 registrars and 12 SHOs.
There is an expectation to participate in the Department’s governance programme and to engage with GMC Revalidation/Appraisal.
Some services may move between sites this year or next following merger and development projects. The Trust reserves the right to close this advertisement early if a high volume of suitable applications is received. If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under relevant Trust or national terms and conditions.
Job plan: Day‑to‑day work within the department in general with a 1:8 on‑call commitment, with 2 registrars present out of hours.
