Role Overview

A vacancy exists for a Band 3 Medical Equipment Assistant within the Clinical Engineering Department at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (NNUHFT). The department maintains 24,000 medical devices across NNUHFT and Cromer Hospitals. The assistant will support specialist medical equipment maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing and clinical support. The role requires planning workload, liaising with users and suppliers, producing reports and the utilisation of the medical equipment database.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planned preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, evaluation and safety testing of specialist medical equipment.
  • Plan own workload, organise servicing and liaise with equipment users and suppliers.
  • Propose policy changes, coordinate, supervise or advise junior staff within the section.
  • Participate in evaluation of medical equipment devices with users prior to purchase, carry out acceptance testing and adapt equipment.
  • Produce verbal and written reports, including adverse incident reports, technical investigations, equipment appraisals, service reports and specifications.
  • Travel to other Health Care Establishments and Home Patients using own vehicle where required, with allowance paid.
  • Support the medical equipment technicians in the maintenance and repair of a wide range of medical equipment.
  • Organise own workload to maximise efficiency and inform senior staff of whereabouts.
  • Maintain accurate records of work using the medical equipment database for repair, service or maintenance.
  • Assist in the production of service schedules and standard work instructions for equipment.
  • Maintain the technical library and stores, receipt and dispatching of medical equipment and spare parts.
