Job description
Cleaning Operations Team Leader

Our Cleaning Operations Team Leader will be reporting to the Deputy Cleaning Operations Manager, covering rota shifts from 06:00 to 20:00, seven days a week.

The role supports the day‑to‑day management of our WTE Healthcare Cleaning staff and is essential to maintaining the Trust’s cleaning and infection control policies, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Main duties of the job
  • Be visible on the shop floor, supporting staff and carrying out visual inspections of cleaning standards.
  • Ensure cleaning tasks and sign‑off sheets are completed to required standards.
  • Under the direction of the Deputy Cleaning Manager, support the delivery of the highest standard of cleaning services to patients, staff and visitors.
  • Play a key role in implementing the new cleaning operations service model, ensuring high‑quality services are delivered to NHS National Standards of Cleanliness and the Trust’s Infection Control policies.

Job responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service to patients, colleagues and the public. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, participate in meetings, support the Cleaning Operations team by cascading information, maintain good handover processes, respond positively to external inspections, manage incidents and promote infection control awareness. Ensure waste is correctly sorted and reports are acted upon. Work collaboratively with clinical and non‑clinical staff to gain access to cleaning areas.
