Director - Civil Engineering

Location: South West London
Salary: Up to £100,000 (depending on experience) + Bonus + Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Civil Engineer to step into a Director-level position at a growing and forward-thinking civil, structural and geotechnical engineering consultancy based in South West London. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to shape the future of the practice, lead and grow a technical team, and oversee the delivery of high-profile infrastructure projects across London and the South East. Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the civil engineering team
  • Oversee the delivery of infrastructure design projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and client satisfaction
  • Lead and develop key client relationships across the development and construction sectors
  • Support business development, tendering, and bid writing activities
  • Manage resourcing, team growth, and staff development within the civil engineering discipline
  • Contribute to board-level discussions and help shape business-wide strategy
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and innovations in sustainable infrastructure
Projects & Sectors

The Director will lead a diverse range of civil infrastructure projects, including:

  • Residential and commercial developments
  • Highway and junction improvements
  • Drainage and SuDS schemes
  • Public realm and regeneration projects
  • Contractor-led design and build schemes
Candidate Requirements
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience, including recent experience at Associate or Director level
  • Proven technical background in highways and drainage design
  • Commercially aware, with a track record of profitable project delivery
  • Experience working with private developers, local authorities, architects, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring engineers
  • Proficient in relevant design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow)
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to leadership
