We are one of the first Authorities in the North-west to be pioneering the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding model of working with families and training will be provided to learn new skills such as motivational interviewing. You will be working alongside Adult practitioners, giving you more time and scope to work with children.

We want our Social Workers to have enough time to relax, spend time with family and friends, and feel good, so that they can do their best at work.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
Do you have previous experience in working with Children with Disabilities in a social work capacity which is essential to ensure our families feel appropriately supported. The role will include Inherent Jurisdiction / Family Courts and Court Of Protection work along with Deprivation of Liberty and completing Mental Capacity Act assessments.
You will need to have a strong background in direct work with children and young people, particularly in relation to children with disabilities, obtaining their voice through the use of a variety of methods.
You will need knowledge of disabilities and the impact that caring for a child with a disability can have on the whole family along with exploring appropriate support mechanisms. A thorough understanding of Direct Payments and commissioned services to discuss these as support services for families.
Experience of safeguarding and safeguarding processes including PLO and Court Proceedings is also required due to the nature of the role. Our team supports Children and Families from referral until they are 18, including Children Looked After, Child in Need and Child Protection.
