We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire, who are recruiting for a Childcare Solicitor to join their team on a 3 month locum basis, with opportunities for extension past this.

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £50 - £60/hour (Umbrella) and the start date is subject to notice. They are ideally looking for candidates who are able to attend court and manage their own advocacy, but they are able to consider remote options.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload of Childcare legal matters, including care proceedings, PLOs and DOLs
  • Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
  • Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
  • Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel's opinion on any relevant matters relating to children's proceedings
  • Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor
  • Recent experience working within Childcare law for a Local Authority

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
