Overview

Our client is a seed-stage healthtech business on the lookout for a Chief Technology Officer to take their business to the next level. MVPs are already live, commercial deals are signed with major B2B clients, and the runway is strong with the backing of an investor-led board. The next 18 months are all about scaling to hit £20m sales and a Series A raise, with IPO ambitions for the end of the decade.

The role

We\'re looking for a CTO who can balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight. You’ll work directly with the CEO, current CTO (transitioning into a Director of Technology role), and investors to shape the technical roadmap while building and leading a high-performing engineering function. Expect to spend about half your time in the technical team and half in the boardroom. You’ll also be a visible face of the business in key client meetings (think large hospitals and global healthcare partners), giving confidence that the product and platform can scale.

What you’ll be doing
  • Defining and owning the technical strategy, aligned to Series A milestones.
  • Building an engineering team (8–9 people by Series A) with a culture of collaboration and delivery.
  • Delivering scalable backend/data systems and AI-driven products (low-code where it makes sense, tools like Solid in play).
  • Representing the business with investors and enterprise clients.
  • Ensuring technology compliance with healthcare and data regulations.
What we\'re looking for
  • Someone with scaling experience in early-stage or high-growth environments.
  • Either an existing CTO or a Head of Engineering / Engineering Director / Engineering Manager ready to step up.
  • Depth in backend/data architecture and AI-driven products.
  • Comfortable working directly with investors and clients as well as leading technical teams.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and mission-driven.
  • Healthtech/regulatory experience is nice to have, but not essential.
  • Team scaling experience is non-negotiable.
The offer
  • Salary up to £130k.
  • Meaningful equity (share of 5% employee pool).
  • Fully remote w/ Manchester base for critical meetings.
  • A rare chance to shape the technology strategy of a healthtech business at a true inflection point.
