Overview

Permanent, Full-Time, Term-Time Plus 2 weeks. We are seeking to appoint a Chemistry Technician to assist with efficiently managing practical requests across Chemistry, providing technical support to Chemistry lessons and related activities, and to support the Lead Chemistry Technician in ensuring the Health and Safety relating to practical Chemistry work and the Chemistry Prep areas is upheld.

The Chemistry Technician will work as a member of a team to provide a service which will ensure safe, effective and efficient use of resources to support the science curriculum. Although the post holder generally specialises in one science, there is a requirement to assist in other subject areas as reasonably required. The position is line managed by the Lead Technician, and the day-to-day coordination is overseen by the Lead Chemistry Technician.

Salary information: The salary range for this post is Point 24-26 on the John Whitgift Foundation Support Staff Salary Scale. The full-time salary ranges from £37,693 gross per annum (Point 24) to £39,986 gross per annum (Point 26), depending on qualifications and relevant experience. The pro-rata salary range for this post reflects Term Time plus 2 weeks and is between £31,604.13 and £33,526.72 gross per annum.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with managing practical requests across Chemistry and provide technical support to Chemistry lessons and related activities.
  • Support the Lead Chemistry Technician in ensuring Health and Safety relating to practical Chemistry work and the Chemistry Prep areas is upheld.
  • Work as part of a team to provide a safe, effective and efficient use of resources to support the science curriculum.
  • Where appropriate, assist in other subject areas as reasonably required.
  • Coordinate day-to-day responsibilities as directed by the Lead Technician and Lead Chemistry Technician.
