Charity Shop Retail Manager, Great Oaks Hospice, Lydney, United Kingdom. Salary up to £25,000. Work base: 1 x Great Oaks Hospice Coleford Shop, 1 x Great Oaks Hospice Lydney Shop. Hours: 37.5 per week (5 days out of 7) between 9am and 5pm. Reports to: Chief Executive Officer. Education: GCSE level (or equivalent) preferred.

Role
Great Oaks Hospice is a voluntary organisation providing End-of-Life Care services free of charge for adults in the community. As a member of the retail team, you will:
- Help inspire communities to support Great Oaks to provide more care through reducing, reusing and recycling.
- Contribute to increasing income to fund care and support services.

Overview of Responsibilities
- Follow policies and guidelines as per Staff Employees Handbook.
- Recognise and report limitations of own professional competence/experience.
- Undertake training identified via Line Management and/or annual appraisal.
- Be aware of Health and Safety and Data Protection Regulations.
- Report accidents or untoward incidents promptly with a written report.
- Respect people’s personal choices for lifestyle and living arrangements.
Main Responsibilities
Income Generation
- Maximise donated income through stock generation, pricing, processing stock to agreed levels and stock planning.
- Achieve Gift Aid sales target through donor sign ups and repeat donations.
- Maintain high shop presentation through merchandising and housekeeping.
Customer Service
- Provide an excellent customer experience with knowledge of donated goods.
- Handle complaints efficiently according to Hospice policies.
People and Development
- Manage the daily shop team, including performance reviews and capability management.
- Recruit, train and retain volunteers; communicate with empathy to stakeholders and volunteers.
- Attend group meetings and cascade information to the team; assist at other shops if needed.
Administration
- Complete administrative tasks relating to the shop and volunteers to required standards and deadlines.
- Manage controllable costs, expenditure and petty cash.
- Ensure minimum loss of stock and cash by following procedures.
- Adhere to Hospice policies and procedures and work with volunteers.
- Support changes to operational procedures; ensure sufficient shop staff cover via rotas and holidays.

- Build strong relationships with customers, donors and volunteers; provide excellent service.
- Plan work to meet goals and collaborate with others.
- Complete agreed tasks and budgets within deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications: Essential: Good general education.
Work Experience: Essential: Experience in a fast-paced environment; leading a team; strong commercial awareness; merchandising experience; knowledge of local community; managing volunteers; ability to deliver KPIs.
Personal Skills & Attributes: Flexible, organised, target-driven, good communication, empathetic, emotionally intelligent.
