About the Role

As a Charging & Recovery Officer, you will manage the financial assessment, charging, and recovery processes for customers receiving residential or community-based services. This includes:

  • Gathering and processing financial and care activity information accurately using departmental systems.
  • Issuing invoices and reconciling payments in line with statutory guidance and Department of Health legislation.
  • Communicating directly with customers, their representatives, and external agencies, often handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Administering accounts and recovering overdue payments in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records using IT systems and spreadsheets.
  • Providing clear advice and explanations on assessments, charging, and benefits to customers and stakeholders.

You will work closely with colleagues across the company, attend team meetings, and occasionally assist with project work. Flexibility and adherence to core values, equality, and health and safety standards are essential.

About You

Knowledge & Understanding

Good numeracy and literacy skills to interpret and process financial information.

Awareness of Department of Health legislation and welfare benefits related to charging for care services.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to organise and prioritise workloads, working independently and as part of a team.

Strong customer focus, with excellent listening and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate confidently and sensitively, adapting style to suit different audiences.

Competence in MS Word, Excel, and experience with financial systems and digital platforms.
