Secure the Present, Shape the Future - Transform Lives as a Part-Time Pagan Chaplain at HMP Peterborough

Are you a compassionate individual committed to supporting spiritual well-being within a correctional environment? Sodexo is seeking a dedicated Pagan Chaplain to join our team at HMP Peterborough, helping prisoners explore their faith, build resilience, and prepare for positive futures.

Location: HMP Peterborough
Salary: Up to £[insert] per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 16 hours per week, Casual

Role Overview

As a Pagan Chaplain, you will provide pastoral care and spiritual support to prisoners, fostering an environment of respect, humanity, and personal growth. You will work collaboratively across departments to ensure prisoners are supported in reducing re-offending, preparing for release, and strengthening links with faith communities and family.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver faith services, teachings, and spiritual guidance tailored to prisoners\' needs.
  • Provide pastoral care in a humane and safe manner, including support in healthcare, separation units, and new receptions where appropriate.
  • Participate in team and establishment meetings to coordinate chaplaincy activities.
  • Guide prisoners in faith-based preparations for release.
  • Promote a caring, ordered community where prisoners can freely practice their religion.
  • Support a reduction in re-offending by offering meaningful engagement opportunities.
Person Specification
  • Active and endorsed member of the Pagan Federation or another eligible grove/coven recognized by the Pagan Symposium.
  • Evidence of training and experience within the Pagan community.
  • Experience working in a similar pastoral or chaplaincy role.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse faiths and ethnicities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, assertiveness, self-motivation, and the ability to challenge inappropriate behaviour.
  • Endorsement of the HMPPS Pagan Faith and Belief Adviser.
  • Enhanced Level 2 & CTC (to be processed by site VCP)
