Job description

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging carpentry lessons in line with apprenticeship standards and curriculum requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed lesson plans, schemes of work (SoW), and training resources that support effective learning.
• Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning sessions in-centre.
• Coach and assess apprentices in the workplace, providing constructive feedback and support.
• Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment (EPA), including mock assessments, knowledge tests, and professional discussions.
• Track and record learner progress, ensuring all assessment and administrative requirements are met.
• Work collaboratively with employers to support learner progress and workplace competence.
• Uphold strong health and safety standards in all learning environments.
• Participate in standardisation meetings, internal quality assurance activities, and ongoing CPD to maintain teaching excellence.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Carpentry Tutor / Assessor to deliver and assess apprenticeship training in Carpentry. The successful candidate will have strong practical skills, a passion for teaching, and the ability to motivate and guide apprentices toward successful completion of their qualifications and EPA. Recognised qualification in Carpentry (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards.
• Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, or D32/D33) or willingness to achieve.
• Relevant and up-to-date industry experience in Carpentry.
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and work-based learning delivery.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and coaching skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills

• Experience delivering apprenticeship programmes within the construction sector.
• Knowledge of End-Point Assessment (EPA) processes.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport (for site visits).
