Care Supervisor

About us: Melody Care is a multi-award winning family-run business with over 10 years' experience. We provide the highest quality care in our community, with over 3,000 client visits per week and 140 Professional Carers and Care Managers in four branches across Surrey and Hampshire.

Purpose of Care Supervisor Position

Working equally between the community and the office, this is an essential role in providing critical support to the operational team. With a focus on relationships, this role will bring a communication link between the office and care field personnel which will enhance the quality of care provided to our clients while supporting all our field carers.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Build excellent working relationships with service users, field carers and office colleagues.
  • Provide support for operational teams with effective communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrating people management and leadership skills at all times.
  • Achieve all pre-agreed KPI targets achievable with effective supervision from your Branch and Senior Registered Manager.
  • Act as a lead mentor and support new and existing carers in the field, ensuring they establish Quality Assurance Standards and develop all carers to be confident and capable whilst feeling well supported.
  • Carry out staff supervisions and in the absence of the Branch Manager 1-1 meetings for the first ten weeks.
  • Assist in the training of carers and attend meetings with OTs in the field to manage the care of service users who require to be on the double up rounds.
  • Conduct service user assessments, writing and implementing the care plans and risk assessments.
  • Attend the client's first initial call, to introduce the carer to the service user.
  • Undertake field-based training to ensure carers are working within their competency level.
  • Liaise closely with colleagues and other care professionals on all relevant findings, ensuring they are documented and provided to the Branch Manager for information or action purposes.
  • Ensuring all Service Users' and carers' paperwork is up to date by completing audit checks on files bi-monthly.
  • Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be the first point of call in escalation in case of safeguarding risk and in instances of absence.
  • Resolving complaints with the Branch Manager.
  • Update Care Coordinator in relation to the rota on outcomes of Risk Assessments / Reviews and Spot Checks.
  • Advise the Branch and Learning and Development Managers about ongoing training requirements of carers.
  • Assisting the Care Coordinator in weekly rotas and cover when required.
  • Responsibility to supervise the Out of Hours service, during the evenings and weekends, on a rota basis with other managers and supervisors.
  • Undertake on-call duties as directed. Record and report on all on-call activity to the Branch Manager.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous Senior Carer or Supervisor experience (in the Social Care Sector only)
  • Proven track record of people management.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of CQC standards and regulations.
  • A focused approach to policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience in staff training.
  • Ability to lead, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Good standard of general education; NVQ, QCF or RQF Level III or equivalent in Health & Social Care; A Social Care Portfolio (of courses attended etc.)
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and use of own car.
