Southampton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service are excited to invite applications for a Band 7 Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. This is a great opportunity to join our team in Children & Families Service line to support in the delivery of high quality children's mental health services.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in working collaboratively with children and families and with partner agencies to promote positive outcomes for children and families in Southampton. You will have a role in offering core interventions as well as specialist CBT interventions to children and adolescents and their families, as well as consultation to the team and professional networks.

This position calls for a professional with HCPC registration and BABCP accreditation. In all cases, you must be able to demonstrate the clinical, consultation and skills needed to offer an outstanding service. First‑class communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills are, of course, essential.

Main duties of the job

You will be working alongside an established CAMHS team at an important time in our development. It really is an exciting time to be joining Southampton CAMHS as we push forward with implementing new ways of working in order to best meet the needs of children and families accessing our service. We are looking for a CBT therapist who can lead by example and truly engage with service users, colleagues and stakeholders.

Appointment to the post will be through application, assessment and competency based interview process to be held on a date to be confirmed.

Qualifications
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Equivalent
  • Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (BABCP) (or eligible for)
  • Evidence of ongoing Professional Development in CBT
Experience
  • Post Registration clinical experience in CBT
  • Experience of working within a CAMHS setting
  • Experience of treating a wide range of psychological disorders using CBT
  • Experience of working autonomously
  • Substantial experience of assessing and recording Risk Management plans
  • Experience of working with complex conditions as identified through ICD10
  • Experience of providing education, teaching and training in relation to CBT
  • Experience of collating and recording clinical outcomes
  • Engagement in an ongoing CPD CBT programme (including attendance at CBT conferences or training)
  • Clinical experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team
