A manufacturing company in Kinver is seeking a CAD Technician to create detailed CAD models and production drawings. The role requires proficiency in 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks, and a background in mechanical or product design engineering. Candidates should have strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with sales and engineering teams. This position offers opportunities for involvement in various projects spanning different sectors, including security and defense.
We are a well-established sheet metal fabrication and engineering business, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of high-integrity fabricated products for highly regulated markets. Our work spans complex metal assemblies, welded structures, and secure systems where performance, accuracy, and compliance are critical.
We are seeking a CAD Technician to join our Engineering team, turning concept designs and customer specifications into detailed 3D and 2D CAD models and production-ready drawings. You will collaborate closely with sales, production, and engineering colleagues to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and meet exacting standards.
Create and maintain detailed 3D and 2D CAD models and technical drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and production packs for fabrication
Support the sales and estimating teams with technical design input and clarifications
Apply relevant design standards, tolerances and materials knowledge (e.g. steel, aluminium)
Review and improve existing designs to enhance manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance
Liaise with production, suppliers, and quality control to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and engineering standards
HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience in sheet metal fabrication and welded assemblies
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design and documentation
Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, and test requirements
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Experience in security, defence, or construction sectors
Knowledge of LPCB, LPS 1175, or BS EN 1627 standards
Hands-on experience supporting prototype builds or site installations
