Job summary

A leading Defence organisation in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their Helicopters division on a long-term contract. This hybrid role involves managing supplier relationships and procurement for critical components. The ideal candidate will have Aerospace or Defence experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to handle RFQs and purchase orders. Qualifications

Job description

A leading Defence organisation is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their Helicopters division in Yeovil on a long‑term contract.

Role: Buyer
Pay: Up to £25 p/hr (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
Duration: 9‑12 month contract
Location: Yeovil
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days (fully onsite requirement for first 2 weeks)

Responsibilities

This role will play an integral part in keeping critical operations moving, managing supplier relationships, placing purchase orders, and driving procurement performance.

  • Managing the end‑to‑end purchasing process for critical components and services
  • Handling RFQs, supplier negotiations, and purchase order placement
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance across all purchasing documentation
  • Liaising and negotiating with suppliers
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams across Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to support smooth business operations

  • Experience within Aerospace, Defence or a similar environment
  • Experience in RFQs, supplier management, and PO processing
  • Advanced Excel skills (Formulas, VLOOKUPs)
