As a Purchaser, you will take ownership of the procurement process across a range of structural and architectural steelwork projects. You’ll ensure that the right materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered to support project requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality.

Key Duties:

  • Sourcing and procuring steel, fixings, and associated materials for fabrication and installation
  • Negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, quality, and lead times
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Scheduling and coordinating deliveries to meet production and project deadlines
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely reordering of materials
  • Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures
  • Working closely with the design, production, and site teams to align procurement with project needs
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any supply chain issues
  • Supporting budget control and cost reporting through accurate procurement records
  • Ensuring all materials and suppliers meet required safety and compliance standards

The Candidate:

  • Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within the steelwork, construction, or engineering industries
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Good knowledge of steel and construction materials
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/order systems

Location & Projects:

  • Office-based in Bedford
  • Projects across London and the Home Counties
