Job description

The Business Development Officer (BDO) will be responsible for identifying and maximising the business potential of the organisation, including developing new income streams and strengthening existing projects, to support the growth and long-term sustainability of the NMT.This will involve maximising the value of both existing and new assets while ensuring all activity remains aligned with the organisation’s core social, economic, and environmental ethos.As part of this role, the postholder will also contribute to an inclusive local economy by embedding Community Wealth Building principles within programmes and partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for identifying and maximising the business potential of the organisation.
  • Developing new income streams and strengthening existing projects, to support the growth and long-term sustainability of the NMT.
  • Identifying opportunities for local economic participation, supporting community focused enterprise, and ensuring that the benefits generated through development are retained within and shared by the local community.
  • The postholder will also contribute to an inclusive local economy by embedding Community Wealth Building principles within programmes and partnerships.
Skills and Qualifications
  • A relevant degree (e.g., Business, Management, Community Development, or a related discipline).
  • OR A minimum of three years’ full-time (or four years’ part-time) experience working in a similar role within the community, social economy, or business development sector, with a proven record of maximising the business potential of an organisation.
  • Experience of liaising and developing partnerships with the community, voluntary, and statutory sectors to achieve shared goals.
  • Experience in project management, including budget management, financial reporting, and monitoring and evaluating project outcomes to demonstrate impact and continuous improvement.
