We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to support the continued growth and commercial success of our distributed energy initiatives. This role will be key in driving sales performance, strengthening client engagement and supporting the development of bespoke Solar PV solutions for commercial clients.

Commercial Sales and Client Management
  • Lead and manage the full commercial sales process from initial inquiry to contract award, including client engagement, pricing negotiations, technical specifications, formal proposal delivery right through to contract signing and handover.
  • Identify, qualify, and engage new and existing commercial clients across sectors (e.g., SMEs, corporates, public)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders such as architects, developers, and engineers.
Solution Development
  • Conduct site assessments and client consultations to assess technical and commercial feasibility, supported by the interpretation of PV designs, schematics, and grid connection requirements.
  • Perform basic irradiance, shading, and loss factor calculations to support solution design and financial modelling
  • Ensure all proposals are technically sound, commercially viable, and compliant with industry regulations. Review and contribute to solar PV system design using software tools such as PVSol, PVSyst, or Helioscope
  • Collaborate with engineers/designers to develop system layouts, energy yield forecasts, and technical solutions that are aligned with regulatory and financial standards.
Proposal, Tender and Contract Management
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals, tenders, ROI models, and financial justifications for both private and public-sector clients.
  • Prepare and manage formal bids, tenders, and submissions for larger-scale opportunities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, supply agreements, and service terms in collaboration with legal, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Assist clients in accessing financial incentives and grants, such as the Accelerated Capital Allowance.
Performance Monitoring and Strategy
  • Track and report on sales performance, pipeline activity, and key accounts by maintaining accurate CRM records, including all inquiries, quotes, bids, and interactions.
  • Provide regular feedback to management regarding customer needs, competitive activity, pricing strategy, and growth opportunities.
Sales Process and Market Engagement
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the sales process and commercial strategy.
Attend industry trade shows, conferences, seminars, and client meetings as required.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including marketing, telesales, and operations to support client success and lead generation.
  • Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments in the solar and renewable energy sector.
  • Achieve agreed weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets.
  • Assist in any other duties which may encompass the role.
  • Additional Duties as assigned by your manager
