Business Development Executive

Salary: £44,000 - £46,000

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm (42.5 hours per week)

Location: Kennington, SE11

We are looking for a driven and commercially focused Business Development Executive to join this Builders Merchants branch in Kennington. This role is a key position within the business, responsible for delivering sales growth, increasing margins, and strengthening our presence in the local market. The successful candidate will generate new business, nurture existing accounts, and play a crucial role in ensuring long‑term customer satisfaction and retention.

Key Responsibilities
  1. New Business Development
    • Identify and engage potential customers within the local area.
    • Create tailored proposals and solutions to meet client requirements.
    • Build a strong pipeline through networking, cold outreach, and site visits.
    • Promote the branch's products and services to increase sales activity and visibility.
  2. Account Management
    • Develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with existing customers.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring prompt and effective support.
    • Monitor customer satisfaction and take proactive action to resolve issues.
    • Implement strategies to reduce customer churn and enhance loyalty.
  3. Sales & Margin Growth
    • Meet and exceed branch sales and margin targets.
    • Stay informed on market trends and competitor movements to identify opportunities.
    • Work closely with the branch team to deliver excellent customer experiences.
    • Develop pricing strategies and negotiate terms to maximise profitability.

  • Strong commercial understanding with a firm grasp of sales and margin drivers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building abilities.
