Job description

Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector organisation to recruit an Business Administrator on a temporary basis.

  • Role: Business Administrator – Fleet Services
  • Location: Edinburgh West
  • Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour
  • Hours: Monday to Friday – 36 hours per week
  • Duration: Temporary (initially 12 weeks, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months)
  • Holidays: Up to 33 days per year
  • Start Date: Immediate
The Role

You will be part of a dedicated team ensuring the smooth running of a large and diverse fleet of vehicles. Your work will directly support the efficiency, compliance and safety of road services. Typical duties will include:

  • Providing professional business support via telephone, email, face-to-face, and online channels.
  • Maintaining fleet-related records, completing data entry, and updating fleet systems and spreadsheets.
  • Supporting driver compliance: maintaining the driver licensing database, carrying out licence checks, issuing and removing permits to drive, and liaising with managers regarding required actions.
  • Monitoring and reporting on fuel usage across depots, issuing fobs and keys, and producing accurate vehicle and fuel usage reports.
  • Co-ordinating responses to enquiries, including Freedom of Information requests.
  • Proofreading and editing reports, as well as taking accurate meeting notes.
  • Managing shared email inboxes to ensure timely and effective communication.
  • Driving to various council depots and sites within Edinburgh when required.
About You

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their attention to detail and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A valid UK driving licence (with no more than 6 points).
  • Strong administrative experience, ideally within fleet, logistics or compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • The ability to interpret and manage complex information and produce accurate reports and presentations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and the confidence to take initiative.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
  • Previous public sector or fleet administration experience (desirable).
