Job summary

A leading construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Project Manager for a site-based role in Blackburn. Overview

Building Surveyor / Project Manager - Construction Defect Remediation (PFI) | Location: Blackburn | Full-Time, On-Site Minimum 4 Days/Week | Contract Type: Permanent

An experienced Building Surveyor / Project Manager is needed to lead the delivery of construction defect rectification works on a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project. This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on managing contractors across a range of defect remediation works including fire safety measures and associated remedials.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple contractors (direct and via FM provider) undertaking construction defect remediation works.
  • Oversee works relating to cavity barriers, fire dampers, passive fire protection (PFP), and other fire-related defects.
  • Facilitate on-site operations and maintain close liaison with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor, challenge, and report on contractor performance and programme progress to the General Manager.
  • Conduct document and quality assurance reviews and maintain accurate project records.
  • Support delivery of potential render remedials (extent to be confirmed).
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and PFI performance requirements.
Candidate Profile / Qualifications
  • Strong experience in site-based project or construction management, ideally within a PFI environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of building fabric defect remediation, especially fire-related systems and components.
  • Comfortable managing multiple workstreams and contractors in a live environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and confident in taking ownership of site activity.
Location & Working Pattern

Based full-time in Blackburn, with a minimum of 4 days on-site per week. This is not a remote or programme management role – site presence is essential. This is a site-based appointment.
