Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor Stock Condition to join their Neighbourhood and Assets Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority housing or property maintenance environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to undertake a full range of Project Management and Building Surveying duties to maintain and improve the Council's property portfolio and housing stock, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and legislation.

  • Planning, specifying, procuring, managing, and delivering a variety of planned works and cyclical maintenance contracts.
  • Undertaking stock condition surveys (including HHSRS and EPC), defect inspections, and feasibility studies.
  • Preparing technical drawings, tender specifications, RIBA work plans, and project reports.
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients and contractors, providing technical advice and ensuring clear communication throughout projects.
  • Managing project budgets, valuations, and final accounts, ensuring compliance with contractual procedures.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and maintaining accurate records to ensure quality and value for money.
  • Ensuring all works comply with Health and Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
  • Analysing stock condition data and contributing to the planning and delivery of future investment programmes.
The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you will require:

  • HNC, HND, or Degree relevant to the built environment or at least 3 years' experience working for a local authority, housing provider, or similar organisation in a relevant field.
  • Experience of undertaking building surveys and planning/managing resultant works.
  • Experience of project managing major works with customers in their homes or business premises.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body.
  • Accreditation to undertake HHSRS and EPC assessments (or willingness to achieve accreditation).
  • Sound technical knowledge of Fire Safety, Asbestos, and Building Services.
  • Experience of contributing to housing investment and improvement programmes.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £27 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £22 per hour PAYE).
