Carrington West is working with Lancashire County Council to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Building Surveying Team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a wide range of property projects that support both the council and external clients.


The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will manage and deliver building-related projects of varying size and complexity. From design and specification through to project management and delivery, you'll ensure that works are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Council's property and construction teams, you'll be involved in:

·Designing and specifying refurbishments including extensions, window replacements, roofing, fencing and general upgrades.
·Leading the project management and delivery of medium-sized building projects.
·Supporting the Programme Manager with capital and condition-led schemes.
·Managing budgets, risks, and project reporting.
·Providing professional advice and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.


What You'll Need

·Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject.
·Experience in building design and delivery using AutoCAD.
·Strong knowledge of building regulations, planning requirements and refurbishments.
·A proven track record of project management within time, budget and quality expectations.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
·Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
·Membership of a professional institute or working towards a professional qualification (desirable).


Contract Details

·Rate: £36 per hour (umbrella, inside IR35)
·Hours: 37 hours per week
·Contract: Initial 6 months (full time)
·Location: County Hall, Preston (agile working with site visits across Lancashire)
