Job Overview: We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Building Maintenance Engineer to join our growing engineering family. Our Multi Skilled Technicians provide facilities support services across client sites. The role carries out a range of general maintenance and business support tasks and reports to the Regional FM, assisting the site team with reactive, planned and ad hoc maintenance tasks. Suitable training and up-skilling may be provided to achieve competency.

Working hours: Core hours are 08:00 to 17:00, with flexibility as required.

Main Duties
  • Undertake maintenance and reactive activity for Mechanical Building Services equipment (heating boilers, pumps, compressed air systems, sanitary ware, fan coil and air handling units, BMS systems, and other equipment in modern commercial/industrial premises).
  • Inspect and carry out reactive activity on Electrical Building Services equipment (lighting, building controls, small power and distribution, BMS systems, and related equipment in modern commercial/industrial premises) within your competency.
  • Be an essential part of the local team to ensure safe operation and repair of all M&E building services and fabric equipment on the site.
  • Participate in a rota to provide reactive maintenance outside operating hours.
  • Work within a shift system to provide a core presence at client sites during an extended weekday period.
  • Undertake weekend/out-of-hours work to complete intrusive maintenance activities outside client operating hours.
  • Work in line with the Permit to Work System and implement systems to maintain plant at optimum efficiency.
  • Participate in departmental energy-saving schemes and promote economical energy use.
  • Take part in appraisals/performance reviews including recognition of training and development needs.
  • Monitor site performance of sub-contractors and report poor performance.
  • Use IT systems (handheld devices) as part of the CAFM system.
  • Work with risk assessments and safe systems of work; take on an AP role in permit to work in a relevant field.
Health & Safety
  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may risk health, safety or the environment.
  • Use all work equipment and PPE properly in line with training.
  • Report issues or training needs to your Line Manager or via the divisional incident reporting system.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for self and others as per Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent amendments.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience of building maintenance duties and a good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment.
  • Proactive approach to maintenance and building management; willing to undertake fabric works/other duties to assist the Team.
  • Confident, driven and pro-active; able to complete work correctly within predefined timescales.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works.
  • Ability to write and follow risk and method statements daily; provide excellent customer service to building occupants and communicate work-order progress.
  • Good knowledge of building statutory compliance; full UK driving licence; ability to record work on worksheets and computer systems; good communication and team-working skills.
  • Experience in a customer-focused environment; flexible approach to work and hours (EU Working Time Directive); presentable in company uniform and PPE; responsible for safety of self and others.
  • HSE management in line with our Quality Management System and all legal/statutory requirements.
