Building & Fabric Asbestos Surveyor
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Building & Fabric Asbestos Surveyor (HPTO Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract, with possibility of extension.

- Pay Rate - £19.59 per/hr
- Location – DoF, CPD Property Services - Clare House
- Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
- Hours – 37 hours per week
Responsibilities
- The management, direction & supervision of asbestos consultants undertaking various asbestos surveys across NICS wide buildings.
- The provision of asbestos related advise to CPD design team staff and to NICS departments.
- Monitor, assess and report on the quality of asbestos consultant’s service delivery by various means including survey timelines, reviewing contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), consultation with clients, etc.
- Attended bi-monthly asbestos consultant framework meetings and provide feedback to senior management on asbestos consultant’s service performance.
- Assisting year our building surveying student within the asbestos section.
- Use of CPD CAFM facilities management software to create project orders to asbestos consultants and contractors.
- Liaising with other professional and technical staff in the division in relation to asbestos implication on building maintenance activities and project design.
- Compliance with relevant industry standards, legislation and associated regulations.
- Maintaining branch performance and client delivery in compliance with all statutory, health and safety, policy, good practice requirements and associated guidance.
- Compliance with public sector procurement policy.
- Maintaining and continuously developing professional knowledge and competence to provide a leading source of expertise and authoritative advice and ensure high
- Professional standards and decision making.
- Creating, maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships.
- Contributing to NICS reform and contributing towards business improvement activities where appropriate.
- Any other relevant duties as required by line management.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
- A Higher National Certificate/Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification (as per the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) for England and Northern Ireland) in Building Construction; and have a current P402 refers to the BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) qualification Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings.
- A minimum of 6 months experience, in the management of asbestos in buildings or asbestos surveying and sampling.
Desired Experience/Qualification
- A Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification (as per the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) for England and Northern Ireland) in a Construction related discipline.
Relevant or Equivalent Qualifications
- Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
