Qualifications

• Registered with HCPC and experienced in Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory work.
• Demonstrable morphology skills required.
• Completion of the Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice and/or IBMS Specialist Diploma is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate effectively to deliver a professional clinical laboratory service.
• Perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with qualifications.
• Supervise unqualified staff and deputise for section leaders as needed.

Skills

Good practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work

Good interpretive skills at bench level

Ability to provide judgment on a range of complex problems

Ability to prioritise work according to demand and urgency

Education

Biomedical Science degree or equivalent acceptable by the IBMS/HCPC

HCPC Registration

IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent knowledge

Actively involved in Continuing Professional Development
