Are you looking to make a difference as a Biomedical Scientist?

We're recruiting on behalf of Southern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a Bio-chemistry specialist.

This is a great opportunity to the trust, where the post holder will provide diagnostic support service to users of the laboratory service.

The role
  • Carry out routine diagnostic tests, interpret and report results to clinicians, including during emergencies and out-of-hours, making appropriate referrals where necessary.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of results through control procedures, first-line troubleshooting of equipment, and appropriate escalation of faults.
  • Work flexibly across a 24/7 rota, including shifts, nights, weekends, public holidays, on-call duties, and rotation to other sites when required.
  • Support service improvement through evaluation of equipment and techniques, development of standard operating procedures, accurate use of laboratory information systems, and participation in audits.
  • Supervise and train Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants, organising workloads to meet required standards and timescales.
  • Maintain professional registration by engaging in continuing professional development, participating in annual appraisal, and keeping an up-to-date portfolio.
  • Uphold Trust values by promoting teamwork, responding appropriately to concerns, ensuring health and safety, protecting patient information, and treating all individuals with courtesy and respect.
The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • HCPC registered and 1 years relevant experience post reg.
  • Completed specialist portfolio.
  • Hold a valid drivers license.
