A leading educational institution in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to work within the Vice Chancellor's Office. You will support academic teams with health and safety matters regarding biological and chemical activities, conduct investigations, and assist in delivering training. The ideal candidate will have previous laboratory experience and hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. This is a collaborative role requiring regular travel to the Medway campus to foster a safe working environment.

Working as part of Vice Chancellors Office, you will advise Academic teams on health and safety matters related to biological, chemical and scientific activities; helping the Faculty Operating Officers to discharge their management duties and ensuring a safe working environment which maintains the health and wellbeing of staff, students, contractors and visitors.
The successful candidate will be part of a small but high performing team, providing competent advice relating to biological and scientific activities, reviewing related risk assessments / codes of practice, conducting investigations into significant incidents involving biological, and / or chemical agents, developing and assisting with the delivery of laboratory specific health and safety training and working with other members of the Health and Safety Services team to ensure the facilities used for scientific activities are appropriate and subject to suitable maintenance / registration.

To be successful, you will have previous experience of working, and providing health and safety advice, in a laboratory based scientific or research and development role, analysing and identifying practical solutions to a variety of scientific problems in order to drive positive changes in scientific practice. You will hold a relevant recognised Health and Safety qualification, to the minimum standard of NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ Level 5, or equivalent, and be able to provide a proactive and collaborative approach to all Health and Safety matters. .
