Job description
Lead Bench Hand Joiner

Permanent | Full Time | High‑End Bespoke Joinery » Location: Edinburgh » Salary: Negotiable DOE » Immediate Start Available

Blueprint are partnering with a market‑leading joinery workshop to appoint a Lead Bench Hand Joiner on a permanent, full‑time basis.

Our client is a highly respected name in traditional, high‑end refurbishment projects across the city. Typical work includes bespoke doors, skirtings, architraves, fixtures and fittings, all produced to replicate or complement existing period features, with careful colour‑matching and detailing so the finished installation looks completely authentic.

You’ll join a close‑knit team of experienced craftsmen in a busy but supportive workshop, producing one‑off and low‑volume bespoke pieces, not mass‑produced, repetitive items. This role will suit a traditional Bench Joiner who takes pride in their workmanship and wants to have a real influence on how things are made.

Role – Lead Bench Hand Joiner

As the Lead Bench Joiner, you will:

  • Take a hands‑on lead in the workshop, setting the standard for quality and craftsmanship.
  • Supervise and support a small team of Bench Joiners, sharing your knowledge and helping to develop others.
  • Work from detailed drawings and technical joinery details to produce bespoke, high‑quality joinery items.
  • Liaise with clients where required, including measuring jobs on site and ensuring their requirements are fully understood.
  • Help to plan and organise work, making sure deadlines are met without compromising on finish.
  • Play a key role in maintaining a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
About You

You will already be an experienced Bench Hand Joiner with:

  • A strong, proven background in traditional Bench Joinery.
  • Demonstrable experience producing bespoke, one‑off or low‑volume wood products to a high standard.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and joinery details with confidence.
  • A proactive, problem‑solving approach, able to contribute effectively in a small, flexible team.
  • Ideally, experience of working within a low‑volume batch environment.
  • Competence in the use of workshop machinery (training can be provided on specific machines if required).
  • A natural desire to take ownership, lead by example and ensure quality is never compromised.
  • Previous experience in a lead, senior, or mentoring position within a joinery workshop would be highly advantageous.
What’s On Offer
  • Excellent salary – highly competitive and negotiable depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full‑time position with a well‑established, successful company.
  • The opportunity to work on high‑profile, prestigious projects across the city.
  • Join a skilled, friendly team where your input and expertise will be genuinely valued.
  • Immediate start available.
