Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency in the United Kingdom is seeking a full-time Behaviour Mentor for an amazing special needs school in Erdington, Birmingham. Behaviour Mentor

Location: Erdington, Birmingham

Duration: Full time, ongoing

Salary: £90 – £105 per day

The School/role:

An amazing special needs school in Erdington is currently looking for a full‑time Behaviour Mentor. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit where students need additional support with studies due to challenging behaviour. The school's main focus is to ensure that pupils are able to transition to the next stage of their education or training successfully.

The successful person would need to have experience working with SEMH, experience as a Behaviour Mentor, foster carer/children’s residential care worker, etc. The students within this setting require someone who is patient and supportive with firm boundaries.

This will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays, and providing direct 1:1 or small‑group student support.

The ideal candidate for a Behaviour Mentor role should:

A new enhanced DBS will be needed for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEMH Background
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school‑based referencesi
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
