Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust employs a dedicated team of B and D1 category drivers providing light goods delivery and staff passenger transport services using a modern fleet of vans and minibuses between major Hampshire hospitals and the wider healthcare community.
A full UK Driver Licence with B category entitlement is essential, held for a minimum 2 years. D1 minibus category is also desirable.
The Transport Driver team support the Trust to provide a high level of care to our patients and staff. In this role, transport drivers deliver and collect pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens, letter post and parcel post within Winchester, Basingstoke, Andover and the surrounding areas between hospitals, local surgeries and medical practitioners. Drivers can also expect to deliver a varied assortment of miscellaneous items such as medical supplies and essential equipment.
Members of the Transport Driver Team also provide NHS staff shuttle transfers between Basingstoke and Winchester using a 16-passenger seat minibus.
Supported by a small team, drivers will receive work instruction and guidance from the Transport Coordinator and work alone using their own initiative, whilst providing a friendly and efficient level of service. Over time, drivers will need to become familiar with numerous collection/delivery routes that extend across Hampshire.
We are looking for Bank staff that can commit to a varied work pattern based on 37.5 hours per week including occasional weekend working (for which an enhanced rate is payable).
