You willwork within the inpatient social work team providing social work expertise andstatutory social care interventions to people with mental health needs.

Main duties of the job
  • Participate in and contribute to the multi-disciplinary team, articulating the social perspective of mental health and ensuring that meeting the social care needs of service users retains a high priority and profile within the functioning of the team.
  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge essential for developing risk management plans, and timely review of the risk management plan identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the client, forensic services and clients Carers, Friends and Family.
  • Use a comprehensive range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, and their families/carers. This will include service users who may have difficulties with understanding or communication.
  • Undertake Care Act or s.117 aftercare eligibility assessments some of which will be for people presenting with highly complex needs using your profession specific knowledge and skills.
  • Support community-based colleagues to identify and address safeguarding issues and act on them as needed.
