Job description

The Ministry of Defence (Defence Medical Services) is recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Health Clinician.

Closing date: 08 January 2026

Location: Merville Barracks, Colchester. Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties
  • Manage own clinical caseload and proactively support service personnel through their clinical pathway in accordance with best practice, current legislation and Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) policy.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and engage in Performance Appraisal Development Review (PADR).
  • Provide clinical advice and training on the value of Occupational Health (OH) to multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Deliver specialist, person‑centred care that prioritises safety, privacy and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge.
Qualifications and experience
  • Degree or equivalent training recognised by a professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC) in a relevant area plus additional specialist qualification.
  • Current registration with an appropriate governing body (HCPC, NMC, etc.) and valid membership details.
  • Valid driving licence – the role is peripatetic and requires travel between the base and assigned units.
  • Proof of current Hepatitis B, Rubella, Measles and Varicella immunity.

Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time).
