Ward Overview

Ward 3 is an elective Orthopaedic ward providing a high standard of care to patients undergoing hip and knee replacements following the fast track protocol. We assist patients pre‑ and post‑operatively to achieve same‑day discharge where safe, with overnight stay if required. We also care for patients undergoing minor local anaesthetic procedures, including plastics and orthopaedic injections.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist patients pre‑ and post‑operatively to achieve same‑day discharge where safe.
  • Care for patients undergoing minor local anaesthetic procedures, including plastics and orthopaedic injections.
  • Work alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, safe care for patient groups.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care as a Band 5 Orthopaedic Nurse.
  • Provide direct patient care, support staff, and coordinate with ward team under senior direction.
  • Ensure high clinical standards are maintained.
  • Manage care plans and ensure effective communication.
  • Participate in staff development and education.
  • Use digital systems and adapt within practice; training will be provided.
Requirements
  • Applicants who meet Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) will require additional pre‑employment checks in line with CQC and NHS England statutory guidance.
  • Applicants who are members of the Armed Forces, and those with a disability that requires support in the workplace (Two Ticks Pledge), and who meet the essential criteria, will be interviewed under the Trust's interview guarantee scheme.
  • For secondment roles, applicant must receive appropriate approval from current manager and complete documentation before submission.
