Band 4 Dental Nurse- School of Dental Hygiene and Therapy

Are you looking for a new exciting career within the NHS? Are you patient focussed and want to deliver high quality dental care? We are seeking enthusiastic, hard working dental nurses to join the Birmingham Dental Hospital.

We currently have multiple vacancies for Band 4 Dental Nurses:

0.37 WTE, Part time 2 days per week, 42 week contract working with the School of Hygiene and Therapy

Working flexibly within the dental team to provide high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients within the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH) and/or additional external sites such as Community Dental Services (CDS) if required.

Dental Nurses will be expected to work flexibly across the Dental Services.

  • To provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.
  • To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
Main duties of the job

Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.

To prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.

To undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.

To ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.

To provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic sessions as required.

To provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician

To assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.

To support and assist Clinicians including all staff and Undergraduate disciplines.

To support and supervise all Apprentice Dental Nurses and Undergraduates.
